Plan your branches before spending
The bloodlines skill tree determines your combat options, mobility, and support abilities, so planning your branches helps you avoid spending limited unlocks on a combination you cannot finish. In Roblox Bloodlines, most characters have room for four major paths; Otsutsuki characters can access five. Start by matching a combat style to your clan, then reserve space for movement and the abilities that keep your build functioning.
The Bloodlines Wiki interactive preview displays a four-shard allowance and an Otsutsuki option that raises it to five. Dead Eye Davy's beginner guide also describes four paths normally and five for Otsutsuki.
There is a conflicting statement in the YouTube build guide: it initially associates the fifth path with Akatsuki, but later identifies Otsutsuki. The planner and beginner guide agree on Otsutsuki, making that the better-supported basis for planning.
Check both the prerequisites for your target ability and the choices it excludes before committing resources.

How to unlock skill tree paths
Progression involves missions, Chakra Points, currency, and specific unlock items. Dead Eye Davy's beginner guide describes activated crystals as places where you can sit, inspect the tree, and travel between activated locations. Destroying a crystal provides a progression resource, but removes that crystal's sitting and teleport functions.
A practical starting sequence is:
- Join a village and use its mission board to earn progression resources.
- Activate useful crystals as you explore so you have travel options.
- Inspect your intended branch and identify its currency, resource, and item requirements.
- Complete instructor quests for any required scrolls.
- Destroy a suitable Chakra Point when your age progression allows it.
- Purchase the prerequisites leading to your chosen skills.
The beginner guide describes an age-based restriction on breaking crystals, with another destruction becoming available after aging up. It also recommends completing instructor quests while waiting for the next progression opportunity.
| Requirement | Purpose | Planning note |
|---|---|---|
| Ryo | Currency spent on progression and skill purchases | The interactive preview labels its currency total “Ryu.” |
| Chakra Shards and Chakra Fragments | Resources used across branch and skill unlocks | Check the exact item named on each requirement card. |
| Combat Scroll | Required for combat-path progression in the beginner guide | Obtain it through the Combat Instructor's quest. |
| Parkour Scroll | Required for stamina progression in the beginner guide | The guide connects it to the training-bells quest. |
Resource terminology needs care. Dead Eye Davy's guide describes destroying a crystal for 100 Ryo and a Chakra Fragment, receiving a Chakra Shard. The other build guide reverses the Shard and Fragment labels when explaining this exchange. Read the in-game confirmation before spending either item.
The build guide also describes elemental gems as additional requirements for elemental paths, with corrupted Chakra Points and certain bosses as acquisition routes. Individual skills may require further scrolls or special items, so opening a branch does not necessarily finish its purchases.
Skill branches and mastered jutsu
The Bloodlines Trello groups mastered-jutsu entries under elemental and utility trees. These entries help identify which techniques belong together, but their placement in a list does not establish their purchase order or prerequisites.
| Branch | Listed techniques | What to inspect when planning |
|---|---|---|
| Fire | Fireball, Fire Seal, Flame Company | The route to your preferred Fire technique |
| Earth | Earth Wall, Earth Dragon, Dome Defense | Prerequisites for the Earth abilities you want |
| Water | Water Pool, Water Dragon, Water Prison | How far into Water your target sits |
| Lightning | Lightning Stream, Lightning Ripple, Kirin | Costs alongside your movement choices |
| Wind | Rising Wind, Gale Palm, Rasenshuriken | Whether Wind fits your remaining allowance |
| Utility branches | Sealing Floor, Coalescence, Clone Decoy | Sealing, Healing, and Clone paths respectively |
The board also lists Genjutsu techniques, including Feather Genjutsu and Scrambled Mind, and food-related techniques such as Fruit Summoning and Bowl Summoning under Improved Stomach.
Mastery deserves a separate decision from branch selection. The YouTube build guide recommends elemental mastery for many combat builds and gives Water Dragon, Smoldering Earth, and Lightning Ripple as examples. Those are the creator's recommendations, rather than a universal ranking.

Choose branches that fit your clan
Clan bonuses can make one branch a stronger starting point than another. The Pro Game Guides clan guide describes elemental bonuses, additional resources, and clan-specific abilities.
| Clan | Relevant benefit in the clan guide | Branch to consider |
|---|---|---|
| Ayrui | Increased Lightning damage and Purple Lightning effects | Lightning |
| Hoshigaki | Benefits involving Water skills and fighting in water | Water |
| Senju | Additional Chakra and an Earth-jutsu damage multiplier | Earth |
| Lee | Early Advanced Taijutsu access and additional stamina | Taijutsu |
| Uzumaki | Increased maximum Chakra and sealing-related abilities | Sealing |
The YouTube build guide places particular emphasis on Sealing for Uzumaki, Water for Hoshigaki, and Lightning for Ayrui. It presents these pairings as important to accessing or supporting clan capabilities. Check your intended clan progression before assigning all four paths elsewhere.
That guide also recommends Fire for Uchiha and Earth for Senju as damage-oriented pairings, while explaining that alternative elemental choices can still produce workable builds. Treat a bonus as a reason to consider a path, then examine what the entire combination offers.
Some older progression commentary conflicts with the clan guide. The build video says Lee lacks progression at that point, while Pro Game Guides describes access to the Inner Gates. Do not use that older statement to conclude that Lee has no progression options.
Build examples and planner limits
A useful starting framework is one combat path, Improved Stamina, one element, and one support path. The YouTube build guide recommends this arrangement for many characters, commonly using the Chakra path for Chakra Exchange. It describes that skill as trading some health for Chakra.
These templates apply that framework. The Hoshigaki version combines the framework with the Water pairing above; the Otsutsuki setup follows the video's explicit example.
| Template | Planned paths | Main consideration |
|---|---|---|
| General four-path build | Combat, Improved Stamina, one element, Chakra | Leaves a path for Chakra Exchange |
| Hoshigaki Water build | Combat, Improved Stamina, Water, Chakra | Builds around the clan's Water benefits |
| Otsutsuki five-path example | Kunai, Improved Stamina, Lightning, Chakra, Healing | Uses the additional path for another support option |
The same guide offers Improved Stomach as an alternative support investment for players who want access to fruit summoning. Uzumaki builds require extra care because reserving Sealing alongside combat, stamina, and an element fills all four normal slots.
Movement also introduces an exclusion. According to the build guide, Improved Stamina provides Flash Step, while Lightning provides Lightning Dodge; unlocking one prevents choosing the other. Taking Lightning and Improved Stamina together therefore does not mean acquiring both special dodges.
Use the interactive preview to inspect dependencies before spending:
- Select a target skill to include its prerequisite route from Substitution.
- Remove a selected skill to remove dependent selections farther along that route.
- Review currency, Chakra resources, and quest-item totals.
- Use Copy Link to preserve and share the planned combination.
The preview's food-branch accounting is incomplete. Its instructions state that costs from Doubled Harvest through Spinning Human Boulder are not recorded and therefore do not enter the total. Red-line skills are marked as locked in the game and cannot be added to a preview build.
FAQ
How many paths can I take in the bloodlines skill tree?
Plan around four major paths for most characters and five for Otsutsuki. Both the Bloodlines Wiki interactive preview and Dead Eye Davy's beginner guide support that distinction. Multiple abilities within a path do not mean you have selected multiple major paths.
Can I unlock several combat paths?
The YouTube build guide describes combat paths as mutually exclusive: selecting one blocks the alternatives. Decide which weapon or Taijutsu route you want before spending the associated unlock resources.
Should beginners choose two elements?
The build guide recommends one element for many starting builds because a second competes with movement and support choices. Two elements can work, but the creator stresses Chakra management and choosing abilities that complement each other. Account for both paths before purchasing either.
How do I activate Substitution?
The Bloodlines Wiki preview lists C + Q while stunned as Substitution's activation input. It also uses Substitution as the starting point when automatically selecting prerequisite routes.
Does the planner show the full cost of every build?
No. The preview tracks several resource types, including Chakra Hearts and quest items, but explicitly omits the unrecorded food-branch costs. Use its totals to organize your purchases, then inspect individual in-game requirements before treating a planned build as fully funded.
